Did Not Meet Expectations May 10, 2010

After having been burned by Sears on their jump starter products I made a real effort to select an item that would meet my expectations. Those expectations being ability to replace parts, U.S. build and reliability. Those expectations resulted in choosing this model and the Schumacher brand.
Wrong! I began to realize I had a problem from the start when I read the UPS shipping weight and it was listed as 48 pounds! At that weight you practically need wheels! The second problem became immediately obvious as I unpacked this tool. Large print advising me that this product was made in China! I could have purchased a highly rated Jump Starter in the $140.00 range with a more usable length of cables if I was willing to accept an offshore product. I chose Schumacher because of past experience with their products working in a commercial venue and believing that they were selling an American built product. I was willing to pay the premium for that product. I did give the product two stars because it is a simple interface, you can replace the cables and the batteries but I would not really recommend purchasing this product for the price that I paid. Sorry Schumacher, that dog just don't hunt here.
